How to Build Your Personal Brand as an IT Consultant in Belgium

June 2026 6 min read

In Belgium s tight IT market, the consultants who never worry about their next mission are not always the most technical. They are the ones whose name comes up first when a client thinks about a specific stack or sector.

Why personal brand matters

A strong personal brand shortens gaps between missions, increases your TJM ceiling and makes recruiters fight to introduce you. It is cheaper and more durable than constant prospecting.

LinkedIn optimisation

  • Headline: outcome focused, sector specific, with your stack
  • About: 3 to 4 paragraphs, results not responsibilities
  • Experience: every line as a measurable outcome
  • Open to Work badge visible to recruiters when you are open
  • Publish or share 2 to 4 times per month on your domain

Build a real portfolio

  • GitHub with at least one polished project
  • Two to three written case studies, anonymised if needed
  • Up to date cloud or sector certifications
  • Three to five short written testimonials from past clients

Network the Belgian IT community

  • Show up at 1 to 2 meetups per quarter (Brussels JUG, BeCloud, BruJUG)
  • Be active in 1 to 2 Belgian tech Slack or Discord communities
  • Ask for warm introductions, not job leads

Use your network

Under BSH umbrella payroll you also benefit from BSH s own client and consultant network when you need a next mission.
