Working for Multiple Clients in Belgium: What You Need to Know

June 2026 4 min read

Working for several clients at the same time is one of the strongest signals of genuine independence. It strengthens your protection against false self employment and stabilises your revenue.

Multiple clients under umbrella payroll

Under BSH umbrella payroll, you can invoice as many clients in parallel as you want. BSH consolidates all invoicing, manages each B2B contract and pays you a single combined salary. This is the simplest setup for multi client work.

As a sole trader

  • Issue separate VAT invoices to each client
  • Track income and expenses per client
  • Diversification reduces re classification risk significantly

As an SRL

  • No legal restriction on number of clients
  • Document each relationship as a distinct service contract
  • Avoid having a single client at 100% of revenue for long stretches

Watch out

Existing client contracts often include non compete or exclusivity clauses. Always review them before signing a second mission.

Non compete clauses

Non compete clauses in service contracts are common in Belgian IT. Read each clause carefully, scope it tightly in time and geography, and renegotiate when needed. BSH reviews contracts on your behalf to flag risky clauses before you sign.
